I C Taiwan Exhibition to Open at Mendel Museum in Czech Republic

A grand exhibition to display culture and academic development in Taiwan will open at the Mendel Museum, Masaryk University of Czech Republic on July 10, according to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan, Taiwan.

The NCKU Museum would be the first university museum ever in Taiwanese history to curate a large-scale exhibition in Europe, revealed the university.

The exhibition called "I C Taiwan Exhibition" is a collaborative effort between the Mendel Museum and the NCKU Museum of Taiwan.

Curated by NCKU Museum, the event features the culture of Taiwan, the maritime crossroad of East Asia, through selected facades of history, culture, academics, and industry development.

The themes of exhibition are Transformation of Higher Education Agendas and Orchid Biotech and Creative Industries: A Triute to Mendel.

The exhibition will showcase stories and findings of orchid hybrids, genetics, and essence extraction technology, all complementing with related products in order to introduce Tainan's biotech industry clusters and the development of craftsmanship as well as cultural and creative industries.

According to NCKU Museum, considering the similar situation between Taiwan and Czech Republic in terms of geopolitics and historical influences by neighbors, we can envision the Exhibition be inspiring to both tourists and local residents in Czech Republic. The exhibit will tour to Poland, Russia, Japan, and Turkey.

Established in 2007, The NCKU Museum conducts researches on the 84-year-old University's campus history and its cultural heritages, and preserves and curates important artifacts and historical documents.

Also, it provides venues for the faculties' academic and research achievements, and ensures a supportive framework for public education to understand cultural and historical significance of the University and its campus.

In addition, the NCKU Museum also holds an extensive record of outreaching and international exchanges made with museums, universities, and research facilities abroad.
