Broadview and YAI Join Together for 2014 Central Park Challenge

RYE BROOK, N.Y. --(Business Wire)--

Broadview Networks®, a leading cloud-based provider of communications and information technology services, and YAI, a non-profit organization that provides services to children and adults with disabilities, once again joined forces for the 2014 Central Park Challenge in New York City. This annual event helps raise money, increase awareness, and provide opportunities and support for people of all ages with developmental disabilities and their families. This is the seventh year Broadview has been the premier sponsor for the Central Park Challenge, which raised $1.2 million this year and more than $12.3 million since 2007.

The funds raised each year help support schools, music and art therapy, group homes, health care, employment training services, socialization and other vital YAI programs. This year's challenge attracted more than 12,000 participants, including celebrities Bill Ritter, anchor of WABC-TV's Eyewitness News, Vicky Jeudy of the Netflix show "Orange (News - Alert) Is the New Black," and Grizz Chapman of NBC's "30 Rock," who showed their support by participating in the 3K fundraising walk, 5K run and various children's activities.

Broadview's participation in the Central Park Challenge goes beyond the company's corporate contribution. Individual employees make their own donations and raise funds by encouraging friends and family to join in the event. This year, Broadview had more than 650 employees, friends and family register for the event. The strength of this long-standing partnership is als evident at Broadview's warehouse in Farmingdale, N.Y., where individuals with developmental disabilities work in the shipping department. These Broadview employees are graduates of YAI's employment training program and, with the support of YAI's job coaches, thrive in their positions and ensure that Broadview's operations continue to run smoothly.

"The Central Park Challenge was a huge success," said Matt Sturiale, YAI's Chief Executive Officer. "We are fortunate to have such a committed partner in Broadview Networks (News - Alert). They play a pivotal role, not only by raising critical funds, but also in working to ensure the event goes smoothly."

Founded in 1957, YAI is an organization of people with diverse skills and talents, all focused on helping individuals with disabilities achieve the fullest and most independent lives possible. YAI is dedicated to seeing beyond disability and changing outdated attitudes about people with disabilities and serves people of all ages with developmental disabilities and delays. The organization's reach extends throughout the greater New York metropolitan area, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"We strongly believe in the work that YAI is doing, and we are proud to partner with them for this event each year," said Michael K. Robinson, Broadview's Chief Executive Officer. "The Broadview and YAI team members have formed many close relationships over the course of the time that we have been privileged to work together. The Central Park Challenge is truly a special event, and each year, Broadview employees from as far away as Philadelphia and Boston make the trip to Central Park to participate. YAI provides a comprehensive range of services and helps improve thousands of lives every day. We are thrilled to support such a worthy cause."
