[February 09, 2010] BRIEF: Volunteers needed Tweet Feb 09, 2010 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Muscular Dystrophy Association is looking for caring, fun-loving individuals to become volunteer counselors at weeklong MDA summer camps around the country. The camp is designed to help young people with muscular dystrophy and related diseases have a little fun. Counselor applicants must be at least 16 years old and able to lift and care for a young person between the ages of 6 and 17. Volunteer counselors are companions to campers with neuromuscular diseases, many of whom have limited mobility. Counselors help with daily activities such as eating, bathing and dressing; and assist with recreational activities such as arts and crafts, swimming and horseback riding.
