BRIEF: Thieves steal golf clubs valued at $10,000 or more from Moorpark Country Club pro shop

Feb 01, 2013 (Ventura County Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Golf clubs valued at $10,000 or more were found stolen from the pro shop at Moorpark Country Club this morning, Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials said.

An employee notified the sheriff's department at about 5:30 a.m. after arriving for work at the golf shop at 11800 Championship Drive. Officials believe the incident happened sometime overnight. More than 100 golf clubs, valued at $100 to $400 a piece, were reported missing from the store, sheriff's Capt. Bill Flannigan said.

A surveillance video at the shop showed a suspect throwing a rock at a glass window to gain access into the store, officials said. Officials said they do not yet know if the suspect in the video acted alone.

Investigators were at the shop this morning gathering evidence. Anyone with any information regarding the crime is encouraged to contact the Ventura County Sheriff's Office in Moorpark at 532-2700.
