BRIEF: Saint Martin's edges Central

Oct 18, 2009 (Yakima Herald-Republic - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Jill Webb and Joanne Packer scored first-half goals 25 seconds apart, and Saint Martin's turned back Central Washington's second-half surge to score a 2-1 victory in a GNAC women's college soccer match Saturday at the Central Soccer Complex.



Kaycie Hutchins scored with just over seven minutes left in regulation for CWU (2-5-1 GNAC, 5-9-1 overall), but couldn't get the equalizer against the Saints (4-4-0, 8-7-0).

First half: 1, Saint Martin's, Jill Webb (Kayci Donatelli, Kaylee Kramer), 15:18; 2, Saint Martin's, Joanne Packer, 15:43.


Second half: 3, Central Washington, Kaycie Hutchins (Katelyn Scobba), 82:55.

Saves: Emilee Eilefson (SMU) 3, Amber Easterbrook (CWU) 2.
