BRIEF: Robotics park land transferred
MONTGOMERY, Dec 30, 2008 (The Decatur Daily - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A change of ownership for the site of the Robotics Technology Park at Calhoun Community College received approval from the Alabama Incentives Financing Authority on Monday.
The authority now owns 47 acres on U.S. 31 across from Calhoun's campus in Limestone County. The authority will retain ownership of a vacant plant building and four acres adjacent to Delphi Corp.'s remaining buildings.
State Finance Director Jim Main called the pending transfer of ownership of the 43 acres from the financing authority to the state Department of Education a formality.
Alabama Industrial Development Training Institute Director Ed Castile said the 43 acres will be enough to accommodate construction and operation of the robotics park.
Castile, who is in charge of design and construction of the robotics park, told the financing authority that the factory building and nearby acreage should be marketed to industry.
