BRIEF: Rage in the cage

Jun 18, 2010 (The Deming Headlight - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Powerhouse Combat Sports continues to bring cage-fighting events to Deming and the area. Gates open at 6 p.m. Advanced tickets are still available by calling Rose at (575) 494-1273. Tickets will also be available at the door, with a $5 fee added. General admission is $20, ringside and tech zone seating is $40, and VIP balcony seating is $50.


Seventeen fights are tentatively scheduled for the evening, and weigh-ins are at 6 p.m. today at the Hat Creek Saloon, 122 North Ruby St.

Local favorites Jose Luis "EL Mariachi" Sanchez and Ivan Ledesma will headline the fight card. Sanchez (3-1) takes on Ronnie White (2-3) in a 120-pound bout. Ledesma (1-0) tangles with Cameron Wolfe in Wolfe's debut fight at 150 pounds.


Females are also featured on the fight card. Jazmine Quezada battles Amy Salopek in a first-time bout for both girls.
