BRIEF: Qwest job fair set for Salt Lake City

Aug 26, 2009 (The Salt Lake Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Qwest Communications is staging a job fair next week for customer-service and sales positions at its Salt Lake City call center.

The telecommunications company, which provides local phone service in Utah and about a dozen other states, will present the event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Bell Plaza Building, 250 E. 200 South in downtown Salt Lake City.

Job applications also are available online at www.qwest.jobs. The job identification number is RP07090001.

Qwest has openings for up to 60 employees, said spokesman Mark Molzen.

The jobs are related to Qwest's residential products and services sector, including high-speed Internet, voice and video. They pay $10 an hour during training, and $11 per hour when training is successfully completed. The positions come with medical, dental and vision benefits, which are offered after 30 days of employment.

The jobs became available when Qwest brought in additional work to its regional customer contact centers, including the Salt Lake City location, Molzen said. Qwest plans to add as many as 200 additional jobs across all of its eight centers nationally by the end of 2009.
