BRIEF: Project Graduation needs $10,000 in contributions

Jun 04, 2009 (The Honolulu Advertiser - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Wai'anae High School's Project Graduation, an all-night, substance-free senior party, is set for tomorrow. The seniors have worked to raise money, and deposit money has been paid for the venue, meals and buses.

But the party is still $10,000 short. And time is running out. State Rep. Maile Shimabukuro, D-45th (Wai'anae, Makaha, Makua), is appealing to the public for monetary donations to save the evening.

"These kids deserve a night of fun for all their hard work," Shimabukuro said.

Checks can be mailed to event chairwoman Gail Gomes at 85-251 Farrington Highway, payable to "Wai'anae High School Project Graduation." Or contact Gomes at 696-7978, or e-mail her at [email protected], and she'll personally pick up the donations.
