[July 17, 2009] BRIEF: Nuts win fourth straight Tweet SAN JOSE, Jul 17, 2009 (The Modesto Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Modesto Nuts jumped out to an early lead and never looked back Thursday night, beating the San Jose Giants 3-1 for their fourth straight victory. Hector Gomez's RBI single in the top of the first gave Modesto the early lead, then the Nuts added two more runs in the top of the second on Charles Blackmon's two-run single. That was plenty of run support for starter Connor Graham and three Nuts relievers. Graham allowed one run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out six. Modesto closer Craig Baker stayed perfect on the season to get the save. Baker is now 25 for 25 in save opportunities.
