BRIEF: I-75 ramps to see changes

LIMA, Nov 19, 2009 (The Lima News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Drivers will see the most differences at interchanges for the Interstate 75 construction project, state officials said Wednesday.

The Ohio Department of Transportation will start construction on the interstate between Breese Road and state Route 81 in 2013, planning administrator Kirk Slusher told a crowd filling the Lima Senior High School cafeteria.

"We have a very preliminary design, about 20 percent done," Slusher said. "The biggest impacts are at the interchanges. We went through all sorts of different ideas about access, but the best alternative we have is to put interchanges back in existing locations." However, the look of those interchanges at state Route 309 and state Route 81 will be very different than today.

The design of I-75 at state Route 81 and state Route 309 will be completely new, with standard diamond interchanges, similar to what exists at the interchanges with state Route 65 See I-75 --A7 To see more of The Lima News or to subscribe to the newspaper, go to http://www.limanews.com.
