BRIEF: Hyundai Heavy gets orders for 2 drill ships


SEOUL, Jun 02, 2011 (The Korea Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Hyundai Heavy Industries has announced that it received orders for two drill ships from the U.S. oil well driller Rowan Companies Inc.

The latest contract, worth $1.12 billion, pushes up the number of orders for drill ships Hyundai Heavy has won so far this year to nine.

The combined value of the contracts the company has won so far is US$5 billion, the company said.

The orders also include options for three additional vessels, the company said.




With the addition of the latest contract, the combined value of contracts for ships and marine facilities won so far this year rises to $11.7 billion, which is about 60 percent of the target of $19.8 billion set for the year, the company said.
