BRIEF: In Enterprise worker falls three stories

Nov 07, 2009 (The Enterprise Ledger - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A construction worker remains hospitalized after he fell from the third story of the new Enterprise High School building Wednesday.

The 30-year-old man, who was not identified, was a subcontractor employed by Kendall Masonry, according to Roger Carter of Brasfield and Gorrie, the primary contractor on the high school project.

The injured man was flown by helicopter to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan from the 138-acre school construction site between North Main Street and the Highway 84 bypass.

Carter verified that the man was conscious and able to speak after he fell about 20 feet.

Enterprise City Schools Administrative Assistant Bob Tomberlin said Thursday that the man suffered two fractured ribs, a punctured lung and a cut on the back of his head when he fell from the scaffolding on which he was working.

The school should be completed by June 2010.
