BRIEF: Capitan, Alto phone service cut

Nov 27, 2012 (Ruidoso News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Landline phone service in Capitan, Alto and a part of Ruidoso's north side was severed for a part of today. Windstream Communications reported the outage began about 8:30 a.m. after a landscaping crew cut a cable.

"They have local calling," said Scott Morris, a spokesperson for the telephone company. "In other words they can call within the area, but they can't call out and no one can call in." In addition to the exchanges at Capitan and Alto, the White Mountain exchange was also impacted.

Morris said a repair crew hoped to have the phone service restored early this afternoon.
