[November 22, 2008] BRIEF: Beaumont firefighters battled three blazes overnight Tweet Nov 21, 2008 (The Beaumont Enterprise - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Two of three blazes fought by Beaumont firefighters overnight Thursday involved vacant houses, and both of those were suspicious, according to Capt. Earl White. The third fire, that caused moderate damage to an inhabited house, appeared to have been started by an electrical short. The first fire, at a vacant house in the 2300 block of Avenue E, was reported about 11:30 p.m. Firefighters fought the blaze for about 45 minutes before getting it under control. At 2:10 a.m., a fire at a vacant house in the 2600 block of Linson Street was reported. Both structures were heavily damaged, White said. An electrical fire broke out at a home in the 6300 block of Ivanhoe about 5:45 a.m. The fire began in the attic, and caused moderate damage to the attic and roof. The house was left uninhabitable because of the damage, but firefighters managed to save the contents of the house by covering them with tarps to save them from water damage.
