#brainbabe Introduces STEAM-Con Connection Helping Fill the Need for Cybersecurity Talent

BOSTON, March 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Deidre Diamond, Founder of  #brainbabe (brainbabe.org) and Founder/CEO of cyber security staffing firm CyberSN, introduces the STEAM-Con Connection, a new resource helping the U.S. fill the unmet need for cybersecurity professionals. The new program will link employers with motivated people helping staff convention booths at approximately 600 cybersecurity conventions, conferences and tradeshows taking place each year.

"With the unemployment rate for cybersecurity professionals—the people protecting us from cyber attacks—at zero, we are facing a serious national security issue. We need talented people to fill the growing number of jobs necessary to protect U.S. businesses and individuals from cyber attacks, and our new program, the STEAM-Con Connection, will help," said Diamond.

Businesses interested in cultivating skilled talent, people working in tech, and students interested in gaining industry experience in the following fields are encouraged to sign up: Cyber Security, IoT, Networking, Software, Engineering, Leadership, Cloud, Robotics, Digital Arts, Women in Tech, Sales & Marketing.

To register, visit: www.brainbabe.org and select "Staff A Con," "Work A Con," or "Support Us." Read more about the formation of STEAM-Con Connection in Diamond's latest blog.

As the Founder and CEO of the leading cybersecurity staffing agency, Diamond sees the incredible demand for people to fill STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) jobs. "There is a major shortage, and one way we can change that is to provide opportunities for women and men to participate in these industry events," said Diamond.

Only 10% of the cybersecurity workforce are women, only 1% of those women are in leadership positions and 53% of women end up leaving the industry.

"The statistics tell the story," said Diamond. "Women still aren't being treated as equals in the workplace and the fact that booth babes still exist is part of the problem. Too many conference booths are currently being staffed by female models hired just to work the event booths with no knowledge of their employer's products or services. I created both brainbabe.org and the STEAM-Con Connection to give the industry a better, more intelligent way to do business. I encourage businesses to replace models with people of all genders who appreciate the opportunity to engage in the industry."

"It is imperative that we change the way we cultivate and recruit talented professionals today so that we can address today and future cyber challenges. STEAM-Con Connection is a new way to educate our college STEAM students and other professionals who want to change careers," said Diamond.
