Bracewell & Giuliani Gives Grant to National Military Hiring Campaign

The American Jobs for America's Heroes (AJAH) national military hiring campaign today announced it has received a special grant from Bracewell & Giuliani LLP to support its ongoing efforts to encourage employers to register, post jobs and hire National Guard members, veterans and military spouses.

Unemployment and underemployment among Guard members and veterans continues to outpace national unemployment numbers, despite U.S. Labor Department statistics in February that show more job openings than at any time in the last 14 years.

"The men and women who protect and defend this country represent the best of America with their dedication, training, and honor," said Rudolph W. Giuliani, Bracewell & Giuliani Partner and former New York City Mayor. "As employers are learning every day, veterans and National Guard members are also terrific employees who provide leadership and teamwork in many fields. Bracewell & Giuliani is proud to be a part of this effort, and we are pleased to show our support for the American Jobs for America's Heroes campaign."

Bracewell & Giuliani LLP is an international law firm with 485 lawyers in Texas, New York, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, Seattle, Dubai, and London. The firm serves Fortune 500 companies, major financial institutions, leading private investment funds, governmental entities and individuals concentrated in the energy, technology and financial services sectors worldwide.

"Bracewell & Giuliani has been active in the AJAH campaign for more than two years, and we recognized their ongoing support at our Delivering on the Promise Honor Roll Awards reception last October in Washington, DC honoring top private sector, nonprofit, and military organizations who have stepped up to help in this important effort," said Steve Nowlan, campaign director and nonprofit Center for America President. "Bracewell & Giuliani's financial grant of $10,000 will help fund educational efforts for employers to effectively reach the skilled workforce available among those who trained and served in our nation's military."

About the American Jobs for America's Heroes Campaign

The AJAH campaign, comprising more than 160 trade and professional associations, nonprofit organizations, and state Chambers of Commerce, is a coalition with the National Guard to help unemployed National Guard members, veterans and spouses find skilled jobs in the private sector. More than 1,600 employers are registered to submit job postings that are provided directly with employment counselors in all military branches who are working one-on-one with Guard members and veterans to place them in jobs.

Employers can register with the AJAH campaign to post jobs and get free help on job descriptions and connect with experienced nonprofit employment counselors - free of charge - by visiting www.CenterforAmerica.org. AJAH provides a host of information and resources to help employers navigate the military hiring effort, including guides written by industry experts for AJAH on taking advantage of available tax credits for hiring veterans and understanding new OFCCP guidelines for federal contractors requiring veteran hiring.

There are no fees to participating companies or job candidates. Employers who want to post open positions can sign up through the Center for America website at: www.centerforamerica.org/register.html
