[December 01, 2008] Boat Telefonica Blue finishes second Tweet Kochi, Dec 01, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Spanish team Telefonica Blue, skippered by Bowve Bekking from the Netherlands finishes second and Ericsson 3 took the third slot in the second leg of the Volvo ocean race here. Boat Ericsson 4, Captained by Olympic gold medalist Torben Grael of Brazil, had won the second leg by touching the finish line first yesterday at 0422 hrs followed by Telefonica Blue in the second place at 1807 hours. Telefonica Blue's victory is all the more sweet as the team had a torturous 4450 nautical mile leg from Cape Town, which took them 15 days, one hour, 17 minutes and 15 seconds. The win has earned Telefonica blue a valuable seven points, taking them to 18 points on the overall scoreboard. Confident of taking the lead in the coming legs, Bekking said 'it was really fantastic to come second, but it was bloody hard. The no wind was tricky, but I suppose the locals are used to it, but this afternoon was difficult. We were always hoping for a first, but second is still a good result'. Ericsson 3 crossed the finish line at 1306 hrs earlier this afternoon to claim the third place.
