Bluegrass Cellular Taps SaskTel International for OSS Solution

Jun 12, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- SaskTel International, a provider of telecommunications OSS solutions and consulting services, has signed an agreement with Bluegrass Cellular to provide a wireless provisioning solution to activate new and existing cellular customers across the carrier's service territory.

The solution is powered by SaskTel International's Java EE-based OpenSwitchGate (OSG) activation solution.

"Our Java-based activation solution from SaskTel International provides the tools we need to activate and manage new services across our expanding cellular service territory," said Keith Carter, Director - Customer Systems, at Bluegrass Cellular. "With SaskTel International's OSG solution in place, it will be much easier to provide a broad range of services to our customers - all activated in real-time. Designed to address our specific needs, the OSG solution provides support for network elements across our hybrid networks. Going with SaskTel, also gives us peace of mind that the solution will continue to be supported and enhanced in the years to come." SaskTel International stated that its wireless provisioning solution provides a wide range of features that help eliminate administrative and technical problems, lower provisioning costs, and shorten activation time - all of which turn activation into a competitive advantage. The solution provides instant activation and remote programming of network elements and any other devices that require provisioning to facilitate activation of a customer's service.

"We are extremely pleased that Bluegrass Cellular has chosen to run its business using our field-proven OSG activation solution," said Robert Watson, President and CEO of SaskTel. "In today's demanding market, it is critical for service providers to have the ability to activate a service instantly while the customer is on the phone. It is also critical that carriers have the ability to program multiple network devices through a single activation gateway that eliminates silos or the need for manual intervention."
