BioTime Announces the Closing of a $20 Million Direct Registered Offering; Demand Exceeds NIS 80 Million Offered


BioTime, Inc. (NYSE MKT and TASE: BTX), a clinical-stage regenerative medicine company with a focus on pluripotent stem cell technology, today announced that BioTime completed a registered direct offering of 6,530,612 shares to a select group of TASE Indexes and mutual funds. The total proceeds from the share sale were NIS 80 million, or approximately $20.35 million reflecting the current exchange rate, before investment banking fees and offering expense. The demand exceeded the NIS 80 million that the company offered for sale. The sale price was $3.13 per share.

BioTime common stock, which began trading on the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange ("TASE") on September 8, 2015, will be included in the following TASE indexes effective October 6, 2015: TA-75, TA-100, TA-BlueTech, TA-Composite, TA-Tech-Elite and TA-Biomed.

The common shares sold by BioTime in the registered direct offering were offered and sold pursuant to a prospectus supplement dated as of September 25, 2015, which has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC (News - Alert)") in connection with a takedown from BioTime's shelf registration statement on Form S-3 (File No. 333-201824), which became effective on February 12, 2015, and the base prospectus dated February 12, 2015.
