BioKansas Announces New Date and Venue for Sixth Annual One Health Summit

BioKansas announces the sixth annual One Health Summit will be held March 31 and April 1 at the iconic Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. This partnership brings together two organizations dedicated to accelerating the development of science and technology in Kansas City and its surrounding regions. The Summit is an annual event with the purpose of sharing knowledge and creating connections that accelerate drug development, strengthen public safety, and boost economic growth based on the One Health concept-that people, animals, and the environment are all connected.

Life sciences is our fastest growing industry and Kansas City's Animal Health Corridor and BioResearch Central provide unrivaled resources for human and animal drug development. Acknowledging this entrepreneurial environment, the 2015 One Health Summit will focus on the pragmatic implementation of One Health principles in the drug development process, essentially providing a primer for establishing, funding, building, and exiting a biotech company. Attendees will hear from regional, national and international experts in both human and animal drug development on company formation, business development, pre-clinical studies, regulatory concerns, clinical trial management, and partnering. They will also see emerging technology presentations from innovative biotech start-ups.

STEAM Initiative and Reception

On March 31st, the STEAM initiative will be embraced at the reception for the One Health Summit. Join us for a celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics as you explore Science City, enjoy thrilling performances by aerialists and dancers from the Quixotic School of Performing Arts, imbibe our signature Strawberry DNA Cocktail, print 3D mementos of the evening, and finish the evening being amazed by a custom-designed performance by Quixotic in the Sprint (News - Alert) Festival Plaza. This STEAM initiaive embraces the deep culture of arts and innovation in Kansas City and the reception will be an event that both attendees and the general public will not want to miss!

About the STEAM Initiative: There is no A- in the orchestra. As you simultaneously translate black dots on a page, directing two hands to do different things accurately and beautifully, you aim only and always for 100%, as there is no other acceptable outcome. If you ask why STEM curricula should include the Arts, consider that simple fact. In Kansas City, we have always been committed to fostering both the economic potential of the person and, as importantly, to nurture what makes that person whole. Launched from this most iconic of venues, Union Station, and embodied by a gem of our culture, Quixotic, STEAM will open a new world of excitement and knowledge.
