Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Teams with Southern Girl DessertsJul 24, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- After taking home the win in the latest season of the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars," Southern Girl Desserts invited the community to come and share with a celebration at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw. According to a release, owners Catarah Hampshire and Shoneji Robison are also celebrating the upcoming debut of "LA Sugar" on E! Network, July 30 th at 9pm. The show follows Southern Girl Desserts and three other high profile LA bakers as they cater everything from wildly extravagant kids' parties to star-studded red carpet premieres. Baldwin Hills Crenshaw said the fun began with a red carpet experience, where the initial attendees could pose with Southern Girl Desserts owners and their celebrity guests. Fifty attendees also received free chicken & waffle cupcakes, which helped the bakery clinch the title of "Cupcake Wars" champions. The winning "Cupcake Wars" episode, originally aired on the Food Network on June 23, will be looped on a big screen TV throughout the afternoon. Southern Girl Desserts said it is noted for its cupcake flavors, along with the best of the South's cakes, pies, cookies, pudding and cobblers.
