Avnet, Inc.’s Marianne McDonald to Present at American Supply Chain and Logistics Summit

Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that Marianne McDonald, vice president of global transportation, Avnet, Inc., will present a session titled “What’s the Big Deal with Big Data?” at the 12th Annual American Supply Chain and Logistics Summit. The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, December 8-10, 2014.

During McDonald’s session on Wednesday, December 10, at 9:10 a.m. CST, she will discuss how to leverage and maintain Big Data to increase an organization’s success and enhance the customer experience. She will help attendees identify the right amount of data that’s necessary for a particular project, as well as how to expand on existing performance management programs to collect the right information for a Big Data approach. She also will highlight how Big Data programs can increase productivity and performance across the organization.

“The vast amount of data generated in supply chain management is staggering. The information involved in transportation alone – from order placement to delivery to payment processing – can result in hundreds of millions of data columns annually,” said McDonald. “Organizations need to understand how to effectively manage all of this data, mine it and turn it into information that enables the business to make better decisions and ultimately enhance the customer experience. During this session, we’ll focus on how to leverage Big Data to drive value and business results.” McDonald leads Avnet’s global transportation operations team with a strategic focus on increasing service value from carriers and reducing net freight spend. With more than 25 years of transportation experience in both the retail and consumer product goods industries, McDonald’s breadth of expertise includes negotiating global transportation rates and services, and managing global trade compliance and distribution operations.

The American Supply Chain and Logistics Summit focuses on strategic planning and performance initiatives. Leading supply chain experts discuss the latest industry developments and best practices for supply chain tools and technology, transportation and logistics, material handling, and sustainability.
