Avago Releases Flat Gain, High Linearity Gain Block for Cellular, WiMAX and STBs

Jun 13, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Avago Technologies announced a new flat gain, high linearity low noise gain block that can be used as either a broadband gain block or driver amplifier MMIC.

Housed in an SOT-89 package measuring 4.5mm by 4.1mm by 1.5 mm, Avago said its MGA-30689 flat gain, high linearity gain block operates in the 40 to 2,600 MHz frequency band and only requires a simple DC biasing match. Moreover, no additional RF matching components are required to achieve bandwidth performance. Avago is a supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications.

The flat gain and high linearity features of this device is achieved through the use of Avago's proprietary 0.25 um GaAs enhancement-mode pHEMT process. The built-in temperature compensated internal bias circuit also provides stable current over temperature and process threshold voltage variations. Additionally, the broadband flat gain feature is also great for use in other cellular infrastructure designs that require the same driver amplifier or gain block for different frequencies.

At a typical operating condition of 5V and 103mA, the MGA-30689 delivers performance of 14dBm gain, 40dBm OIP3 and 22dBm P1dBm and 3.2dBm noise figure at 1,950 MHz.

Avago's MGA-30689 flat gain, high linearity gain block is available immediately.
