Automatic crash alert system triggered to save lives
(Business Day (South Africa) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Automatic crash alert system triggered to save lives WITH the rise in car purchases and our roads taking increasing strain, the number of vehicle accidents being reported is on the increase. With SA's already burdened emergency response services, the number of fatalities is also on the increase and solutions are being sought after.
Matrix Vehicle Tracking has now introduced Crash Alert, a potentially life-saving device to be fitted with its top of the range vehicle tracking unit. As its name implies, the system is a notification device that activates in the event of an accident.
Matrix has joined forces with International SOS (ISOS) to provide both the emergency medical response and roadside assistance needed after a crash.
Crash Alert is a tiny sensor that is fitted with the vehicle's frame. Should an accident occur one that is similar to the power needed to deploy an airbag an alert is sent to the Matrix and ISOS control rooms simultaneously. ISOS will immediately despatch an ambulance, and then call the client to determine the extent of any injuries. If the client does not require medical assistance, ISOS will recall the ambulance.
If ISOS cannot get hold of the client, and it is determined that the vehicle is still moving (via further GPS positions obtained), it is concluded that the alarm is false, and they will recall the ambulance. Crash Alert is automated, and renders assistance whether the injured person is able to call for help or not.
