MELBOURNE, Fla. and SHENZHEN, China--(BUSINESS WIRE) - Nov.
17, 2008-- AuthenTec (NASDAQ:AUTH), the world's leading
provider of fingerprint sensors and solutions, announced that
its AES1510 fingerprint sensor is being integrated into a new
Windows Mobile phone from leading Chinese handset manufacturer
YuLong for versatile Power of Touch features that extend beyond
security to include convenience, personalization and
navigation.
Yulong's Coolpad 9000 is a touchscreen smart phone that uses
AuthenTec's TruePrint-based AES1510 fingerprint sensor for
convenient security and user navigation features, enabling
touchpad-like control of the device via finger movement over
the face of the sensor. YuLong's Coolpad 9000 uses a Windows CE
6.0 operating system and incorporates several innovative
features including built-in GPS, web browser, multimedia
player, dual cameras (3 megapixel still camera), e-mail, and
browsing of PowerPoint, Word and Excel files. This lightweight
new phone features a 4.3 inch LCD WVGA display and operates
from a long-lasting Lithium Ion battery.
"We designed our Coolpad 9000 for today's busy consumer and
business person who wants to stay connected via a mobile phone,
yet still have access to e-mail, the web and their favorite
Windows programs. With the amount of information and access the
Coolpad 9000 provides, we wanted to be sure to offer users a
convenient security solution, which is why we chose the proven
AuthenTec AES1510 fingerprint sensor as a value-added
feature,"
said Dongkai Liu, Special Assistant to YuLong's President.
"YuLong will extend R&D and product development efforts to
introduce a series of such solutions and lead the market toward
the new fingerprint-enabled feature.""YuLong's Coolpad 9000 is
a feature-packed Windows mobile phone, and we're delighted that
YuLong one of China's leading handset manufacturers - selected
our award-winning AES1510 sensor for convenient security," said
Art Stewart, AuthenTec's VP of Wireless Products. "China offers
tremendous potential for growth for fingerprint-enabled phones,
and we are pleased to be working with market leader YuLong to
bring the Power of Touch to an eager and growing market for
products like the Coolpad 9000."
The AES1510 is one of several small form factor sensors that
AuthenTec offers for the PC and wireless markets, and has been
recognized by the National Society of Professional Engineers as
its 2008 Product of the Year. Since the introduction of its

first small form factor sensor in 2005, the company now has
sold more than 12 million such devices, or nearly a third of
the Company's industry leading 40 million total sensors
shipped.
Millions of today's cell phones depend on the AES1510 to
enable Power of Touch features of security, convenience,
personalization, and navigation. The sensor can be used as a
multi-function user input control providing touchpad-like
navigation of menus, stored files, contact lists and phone
functions.
The AES1510 also enables secure mobile payments via cell
phone, authorizing a payment with the simple slide of a finger,
rather than typing PINs, passwords or lengthy security codes.
Based on the Company's patented TruePrint technology to
deliver extremely accurate and reliable fingerprint imaging,
the AES1510 reads below the surface of the skin to the live
layer, where a person's true fingerprint resides. This unique
subsurface approach enables AuthenTec sensors to overcome
common skin surface conditions to read virtually every
fingerprint, every Time. TruePrint also allows AuthenTec to
provide the smallest sensors on the market, yet provide all the
security, privacy and convenience afforded in its larger form
factor devices.
