AT&T to Build New IP Infrastructure for Molina Healthcare

AT&T has announced that Long Beach, CA-based Molina Healthcare Inc. has signed a three-year, $7.2 million contract for an IP Virtual Private Network that will provide the company with a full range of networked voice and data services.


 
Molina provides health care in California, Indiana, Michigan, New Mexico, Utah and Washington, and runs 21 primary care clinics in Northern and Southern California. Like other healthcare facilities, Molina is looking for a solution that will provide a secure network, allowing staff to log in and access patient information — not only make phone calls — regardless of where they may physically be situated.


 
“We chose AT&T for its ability to present a comprehensive solution across all product lines — voice and data,” said Rick Click, chief information officer of Molina Healthcare Inc. “AT&T provided a strong business solution that will allow our organization to consolidate our telecommunications operations and take advantage of leading-edge technologies as they become available.”

AT&T will supply Molina with a solution that will be more cost efficient, will increase productivity, and will raise the overall level of service and care patients, network members, and providers receive. The converged network will also be much easier to manage and troubleshoot — because it is only one network. Molina’s new infrastructure is also built to withstand time; as new products are introduced, they can be easily integrated to the system as add-ons or as replacement parts.  
 
The solution also brings to Molina new age technologies like VoIP, which, above and beyond the advantages of a converged voice and data network, offers additional telephony features and operational efficiencies.
 
Molina Healthcare also worked with AT&T to implement a business continuity plan that ensures communication channels will remain online and operational at all company locations in the event of a service disruption.
