Association of Indonesian Importers boycotts Australian goods

(Asia In Focus Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)JAKARTA, April 7 Asia in Focus - The Association of Indonesian Importers (GINSI) has declared economic war with a decision to boycott Australian goods effective as from April 6, a report said. The boycott will be effective until the Australian government announces revocation of temporary visas granted to 42 Indonesians from Papua seeking political asylum in that country, the newspaper Bisnis Indonesia quoted GINSI chairman Amiruddin Saud as saying yesterday.



* Amiruddin asked all Indonesian importers to unite in the boycott call.

* He also called for support from Indonesian longshoremen by refusing to unload goods carried by ships flying the Australian flag.
