Ask a Lender Launches Free and Open Lender Searches

BOTHELL, Wash., Dec. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ask a Lender, a new online platform that connects borrowers and lenders, has attracted more than 1,000 lenders of all loan types since its launch on Nov. 27. With its free and open model, Ask a Lender aims to disrupt existing lead-generation models and help people borrow wisely.

Lenders of various loan types can join, build a profile and enter their loan programs for free. Borrowers can search for lenders, read reviews and browse profiles without having to disclose personal information. They also can contact lenders directly.

Being a free, open platform is at the core of Ask a Lender. "To lenders, free means that they do not pay per lead, per call or per click," said Brian B. Simmons, CEO and founder of Ask a Lender.

For borrowers, it means more control over the borrowing process. "Consumers start the conversation, and have access to all of the loan programs available to them, not only those of a few paid partners — a model used by many lead generator," said Simmons.

Ask a Lender has a non-mandatory vetting process to verify lenders' specialties and credentials. Verified lenders appear higher in search results and are clearly marked, which helps borrowers when they compare lenders.

Ask a Lender was created by the team of Scotsman Guide Media Inc., an award-winning media company based in the Seattle area. Ask a Lender leveraged Scotsman Guide's vast network of residential and commercial mortgage lenders, and expanded to build new connections with lenders across almost every loan type, including personal, auto, student and business loans.

It took nearly three years to develop the platform and the technology that powers its lender searches. Across all loan types, there are more than 6,000 unique data points, which makes it possible to feature thousands of unique, searchable loan programs.

"Other lead-generation models limit borrowers' access to lenders and loan information. This means higher profits for lead generators, but fewer loan options for borrowers," said Simmons.

"Ask a Lender is different. Our unique model is going to dismantle the barriers between lenders and borrowers."
