Apptix Ends Second Quarter With Over 300,000 Hosted Exchange Seats Under Contract

Herndon, VA, Aug 04, 2010 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Apptix (OSE: APP), the leading provider of hosted Unified Communications services including Microsoft Exchange email (http://www.apptix.com/hosted-email), Microsoft SharePoint (http://www.apptix.com/sharepoint), and Voice over IP (VoIP (http://www.apptix.com/voip-services)) for businesses worldwide, announced today the completion of a nearly two and a half year project to consolidate legacy systems onto an advanced technical network and service delivery platform. The company credits this system for its ongoing market leadership position. Apptix also announced it had more than 300,000 full Exchange users at nearly 22,000 companies and organizations under contract at the end of the second quarter of 2010-including 100,000 employees of one of the largest U.S. healthcare providers. The healthcare company on-boarding began on July 1, 2010.

Beginning in early 2008, Apptix created an advanced Cloud services delivery system and consolidated customers on legacy platforms from the acquisitions of Exchange competitors ASP-One, MailStreet, and Mi8 onto this new infrastructure. With the completion of this project, 90 percent of Apptix's existing customer base now utilizes the company's primary data centers in Austin, TX and Miami, FL. In addition, Apptix dramatically expanded the depth of its product portfolio with the launch of a series of new and complementary communication and collaboration services across the platform.

"Our advanced technical infrastructure and delivery platform, coupled with a culture of service and operational excellence, has enabled us to aggressively grow our leadership position within the hosted Unified Communications market," said David Ehrhardt, President & CEO of Apptix. "From the breadth of our service offering to our highly available network and management tools to our skilled customer service team, only Apptix can meet the unique needs and requirements of businesses of all size - from a single employee SoHo or a 100,000-seat enterprise." Apptix standardized its technical infrastructure on enterprise-class hardware-including EMC storage solutions, HP servers, and Cisco routers-housed within Tier IV, Type II SAS 70 compliant, geographically dispersed, interconnected data centers. Across this network, Apptix launched a unified provisioning, management, and billing platform for the delivery of all services. This network and platform deployment was named a 2009 InfoWorld Top 100 IT Project (http://www.apptix.com/news/2009/12102009/default.asp).

The unified platform enables Apptix to quickly bring new offerings to market. In the last 18 months, Apptix has launched 20 new services and enhancements including: Web Conferencing and Secure Instant Messaging (IM) via Microsoft Office Communication Server R2; encrypted email; SharePoint Web Parts in partnership with Bamboo; Outlook Voice Access; Online Backup in partnership with EMC's Mozy; Web Hosting and Domain Registration; Desktop Fax; VoIP SIP Trunking; and Virtual Private Servers (VPS).

An advanced Control Panel and integrated Active Directory Sync tool provide customer administrators and end-users with a single, standardized, Web-based interface through which they can simply and efficiently manage all Apptix services for thousands of employees.

Professional, highly skilled, and experienced Implementation and Customer Service teams provide the support that both new and existing customers need for implementation, deployment, and ongoing operations. Fully U.S.-based, multi-lingual customer support agents are available 24/7 by email, phone, and chat.

These capabilities enabled Apptix-following an extensive, highly competitive process-to earn the five-year contract to provide hosted Exchange email and mobility services for the 100,000+ employee healthcare system. This is the industry's largest Hosted Exchange customer contract. On-boarding of these employees will be completed late in the fourth quarter of 2010 or early in the first quarter of 2011.
