AppDeploy: Industry's First Free Repackager Simplifies Large, Custom Application Deployment

AppDeploy, the leading destination for systems management professionals
and the Internet's largest community of application and computer
administrators, has announced the availability of a free software tool
called AppDeploy Repackager. This innovative product is available at no
cost to the AppDeploy community (www.appdeploy.com) and is the
industry's first free tool dedicated to the complex task of Windows
Installer repackaging. Aligning with AppDeploy's charter of community
involvement, the product uses a file format that can be shared between
all AppDeploy members.

The AppDeploy.com community boasts over 250,000 monthly visitors and
maintains a broad knowledge base, updated by over 25,000 contributing
professionals, to provide computer administrators safe, reliable access
to data on hundreds of thousands of applications. The community offers
members an easy way to search for answers and best practices to a vast
range of technical issues.

"AppDeploy has already proven itself a valuable resource thanks largely
to the many contributors that regularly share tips and answer questions
to the most challenging of software deployment issues," said Bob Kelly,
founder of AppDeploy and senior product manager at KACE. "I'm very
excited to be able to give back to this community by offering a much
needed tool that further promotes sharing."

A repackager is a tool used to generate a custom, silent installer
based on changes that are made to a system when installing and
configuring software. While Windows Installer setups are highly
customisable, many applications are still provided by vendors without
leveraging this format. In order to effectively deploy software in a
custom, silent manner, installers must often be repackaged into custom
Windows Installer setups by administrators using a tool such as
AppDeploy Repackager.

With AppDeploy Repackager, administrators can not only generate the
custom Windows Installer packages they need with a free and easy to use
tool, but the results of their efforts may be freely shared with others
through the popular community.

"Until now, there hasn't been a free tool available to the
administrators that address repackaging," said Ian Northwood of Deepnet
Limited, a long-time AppDeploy community member and contributor. "I'm
beyond thrilled with this offer from AppDeploy. And with its sharable

format, it's sure to become a favourite of administrators around the
world who are charged with the customisation of software installs which
can be an incredibly time consuming and tedious process."

AppDeploy Repackager is currently in beta form and is soliciting
feedback and enhancement requests at www.appdepoy.com/tools/repackager.

AppDeploy.com was acquired by KACE (www.kace.com), the leading systems
management appliance company, in 2007. This relationship has sparked
the continuous development of AppDeploy's online community, while
integrating its extensive knowledge base directly into its system
management appliances via a capability called AppDeploy Live.
