Ames On-Demand prints 3m pages in a month on Xerox iGen3 Digital Press
(Worldwide Computer Products News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)
Ames On-Demand, a division of the Ames Safety Envelope Company, a
printer specializing in on-demand digital printing and sheet-fed
printing and binding, printed over 3m pages in a month on a single
cut-sheet digital production colour press, one of its four iGen3 110
Digital Production Presses from imaging solutions company Xerox Corp
(NYSE:XRX).
According to the company, Ames On-Demand achieved the milestone - 3.3m
pages - in August 2007, during a peak four-month period of getting
textbooks ready for the fall academic semester. During this time, the
company printed over 22m pages on its four 110 page-per-minute digital
colour presses. The typical iGen3 press user averages around 400,000
pages a month.
Ames On-Demand has reportedly recorded sharp growth in its digital
colour book output and expects it to increase from 20% of its overall
business today to almost 50% in the next few years. The company
produces more than 600,000 colour and black-and-white books per year
and expects print volume to reach 50m colour pages by the end of 2007
and grow to 80m colour pages by the end of 2008.
The company's Xerox iGen3 presses are powered by Xerox FreeFlow DocuSP
Print Servers and use Xerox FreeFlow Makeready, Xerox FreeFlow Print
Manager and Xerox FreeFlow Scanner 665E, software and hardware that
improve efficiency by reducing prepress time, enabling late-stage
editing, automating print management with load balancing and enhancing
image quality, the company said.
