A.M.BestTV: Insurers Step Up Their Charitable Giving
This A.M.BestTV episode looks at a new McKinsey & Company (News - Alert)
survey, which shows that charitable giving by the insurance industry has
risen by 15% since 2011.
William Ross, chief executive officer at the Insurance Industry
Charitable Foundation (IICF), and Robert Hartwig, senior vice president
& chief economist at the Insurance Information Institute, attended the
recent annual IICF meeting in New York, where Ross stated, "Charitable
giving within the industry is progressing and growing well."
Hartwig discussed the drivers behind the increase. "This is an industry
where the desire to help others in the community as well as people known
and unknown runs very deep," said Hartwig. "Additionally, it makes
excellent business sense because employees like to feel connected to
their communities and other people."
Ross agreed, and added, "Any time a business is involved in its
community there is a huge business payback."
