AirRadio Ltd: AirRadio wins support contract for BAA Radio Infrastructure at London Gatwick Airport

Mar 02, 2009 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- AirRadio Ltd confirms it has been selected by BAA to provide maintenance and support services for their in-built (passive) radio infrastructure at London Gatwick Airport.

As part of a streamlining project at Gatwick, BAA purchased radio equipment owned by AirRadio, to ensure they now own all in-built infrastructure at the airport. Subsequently they awarded AirRadio a 5-year contract to provide support and maintenance services for the passive infrastructure in the South Terminal which includes directional amplifiers, leaky feeders and in-building antennas.

As part of the contract AirRadio will provide an annual inspection of the infrastructure in both North and South Terminals and conduct repairs identified as a result of the annual survey. AirRadio will also provide a help desk facility for BAA to address day to day faults reported on the system.

John Fincham, Operations Director for AirRadio, said: "The support and maintenance contract ensures this specialist equipment is maintained professionally by AirRadio, whilst BAA takes ownership of the assets at the airport. AirRadio's support team, located at Gatwick, will be on hand to respond to any equipment issues as per the contract's specified SLA (Service Level Agreement) to ensure business continuity for all".

Ian Denchfield, BAA Head of Commercial Telecoms confirmed "BAA is pleased to be extending our relationship with AirRadio. This agreement ensures that our business partners continue to receive the professional services of AirRadio, whilst BAA achieves its objective of providing a common in-building radio infrastructure for the benefit of the entire airport community." AirRadio continues to operate its own trunk radio service for other companies operating at the airport, including many airlines and ground handlers. The trunk network provides one-to-one, one-to-many and broadcast call capability whilst the system offers high levels of resilience ensuring uninterrupted network service and importantly in the current economic climate, trunk networks have a flat monthly fee, giving stability to mobile communications costs.
