Aging2.0 Academy Announces Second Class of Startups Focused on Aging and Long-Term Care
SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--
Today Aging2.0, the global innovation network, announces the 20 startup
companies who will be part of the 2014-2015 Aging2.0
Academy. The highly competitive Aging2.0 Academy, the only program
of its kind globally, is designed to nurture and accelerate a select
group of startups focused on the large and growing aging and long-term
care markets.
Over the course of the year-long program, Academy companies will receive
critical market insight, access to consumers, expert mentorship and
curated introductions to pilots, distribution and investors to help them
achieve their strategic goals and ultimately improve the lives of older
adults around the world - the mission of Aging2.0. Through Aging2.0's partnership
with Google for Entrepreneurs, Academy companies will also have
access to Google (News - Alert) training, mentorship and products.
The Academy program will be tightly integrated with Aging2.0's recently
announced Leaders Circle. This exclusive group of corporate partners is
an unprecedented collection of the leading organizations from across the
industry who have come together to support and accelerate innovation in
aging and long-term care.
"We were blown away by the quality and quantity of the Academy
applicants this year and are thrilled to announce the 2014-2015 cohort,"
said Katy Fike, PhD., Aging2.0 co-founder. "We look forward to working
with and supporting each company as they bring these much-needed
products and services to market."
Academy applicants underwent a competitive 6-week screening process,
which included valuable input from the Aging2.0 Leaders Circle and the
Aging2.0 Consumer Panel, who both see and experience the needs first
hand every day.
The Academy startups are focused on solutions to many of the "Grand
Challenges" in aging and long-term care such as family caregiving,
cognitive impairment, end of life, fall prevention, safety, loneliness,
care coordination, loss of independence, the digital divide and the need
for new, lower cost care delivery models.
"Aging is a global issue, which is reflected in this year's
international cohort," said Stephen Johnston, Aging2.0 co-founder. "We
are delighted to welcome these talented entrepreneurs, who are focused
on the most pressing issues in aging and long-term care, to the Aging2.0
Academy."
