Agile Commerce Collaborates on Applications for Palm Pre

Jun 12, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Agile Commerce, a developer of Web-based and mobile applications, announced that it is a company working with developers to create applications for the Palm webOS platform and the new Palm Pre phone.

Agile noted that it worked with FlightView, a source of flight information, to create an application developed for Pre. FlightView is available now in Pre's on-device beta App Catalog.

"Agile Commerce has been a valuable development ally leading up to the launch of Pre," said Pam Deziel, vice president, Developer Marketing, Palm, Inc. "With the FlightView application, the Agile team has demonstrated the leverage offered by combining a powerful web-centric development model and the unique capabilities of Pre." FlightView provides aggregated data regarding all North American airline flights including FAA data on all in-flight planes, baggage information, terminal and gate numbers, delays, and estimated times of arrival.

"Agile Commerce is a strategic partner for FlightView," said Katherine Welman, FlightView's vice president of marketing and product management. "Their work with our team is helping to drive our entry into new markets. The Pre application is a key milestone in our plans to extend our reach via new mobile devices and platforms. Agile Commerce's expertise plays an important role in our ability to quickly roll out new flight information applications - on both mobile and online platforms." "By working closely with the Palm technology team, we were able to leverage our Web expertise and our previous development work for FlightView to create an elegant showcase application for the Palm Pre," said Eric Marthinsen, partner, Agile Commerce.

Palm webOS is a new kind of platform, invented exclusively for mobile use. Palm Pre is a phone running the new Palm webOS platform.
