Afghanistan: Four soldiers killed(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Four Western coalition soldiers were killed Saturday in southern Afghanistan when a roadside bomb detonated, U.S. military officials said. The soldiers, whose names were not released, were traveling in an armored jeep in the Shah Wali Kot District of Kandahar Province. Southern Afghanistan -- and Kandahar in particular -- continues to be a stronghold for Taliban militants. In recent months, the Taliban have increased their attacks on coalition forces in the region and throughout the country. Earlier this week, a rocket attack attributed to militants targeted a building near the U.S. embassy in Kabul. |
