Advice industry prepares for shake-upNov 22, 2009 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Parliamentary Committee on Corporations & Financial Services will on 23 November 2009 issue its report on the financial planning sector. It had staged an investigation particularly into the collapses of Storm Financial and Opes Prime, and is set to recommend substantial changes to the industry. The practice of investment advisers being paid commissions by those providing the products the planners recommend is likely to be regulated more, although a total ban is not likely.
