Additional TSA PreCheck Application Center Now Open at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ATLANTA, July 25 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration issued the following news release: The Transportation Security Administration and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) today announced the opening of an additional application site for TSA PreCheck, an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. TSA is currently in the process of expanding to more than 300 application centers across the country.

The TSA PreCheck application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to go through a pre-enrollment process online at tsa.gov and visit an application center to provide biographic information (e.g. name, date of birth, address, etc.), fingerprints, valid required identity and citizenship/immigration documentation and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership.

"I am pleased to announce that the world's busiest airport now has a second TSA PreCheck application center," said TSA's Atlanta Federal Security Director Mary Leftridge Byrd. "Adding this new application center at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport enables more passengers to apply to receive expedited screening when they travel. TSA PreCheck is enabling our agency to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to transportation security, as we look for additional opportunities to provide the most effective security in the most efficient way." "At the world's busiest and most efficient airport, we are continually working to improve the traveler experience," said Hartsfield-Jackson General Manager Miguel Southwell. "The addition of a TSA PreCheck application center located before security will provide our customers the ability to move more quickly through the security screening process once a traveler's application is approved." Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA PreCheck lanes at security checkpoints at 118 participating airports and on 11 major airlines: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.

Additional program information and how to enroll can be found at tsa.gov.
