Accuware Launches Video-Based Indoor Positioning System

Accuware has announced the launch of the first member of its new product line: the Visual Positioning System (VPS) code-named Dragonfly, which leverages video signal processing of a mobile device's camera to determine its location in three dimensions with high accuracy.

VPS Dragonfly software runs on camera-equipped mobile devices, processing images from the video camera to identify and decode physical location Markers deployed throughout a venue. Similar to QR codes, Markers, which are created via Accuware's online dashboard, encode 3-dimensional location coordinates that include 4 attributes: latitude and longitude, altitude (off the floor) and level (first floor, second floor, basement). The location coordinates can enable automated mobile robots (AMR) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to navigate indoors oroutdoors, in environments where Markers are deployed.

"Our tests indicate that this system delivers accurate positioning within a few inches. This will provide a reliable building block for systems that require flexibility for autonomous vehicles to adjust to environmental conditions, such as warehouses where humans and AMRs work side by side," said Cyril Houri, Accuware's CEO. "We are excited to make this product available for markets that thrive on innovation."
