As Brenden Stoltz, Service Delivery Manager, explains, "Many of our customers who rely on us for tape based backup systems, offsite storage and support had requested an alternative to reduce management overheads and to allow faster data restoration in the event of a problem." The increased availability of high speed broadband led Brenden to evaluate a number of solutions from vendors including Iron Mountain, Mozy and StorageGuardian, "However, A-Server offered the best range of features including - offsite backup, 24/7 remote monitoring and the ability to quickly recover a failed server using virtualisation technology - this was particularly useful for clients in critical environments." One such client is a coca-cola championship football club who has deployed a solution from TPN protecting servers running its ticketing and gate entry software. "With thousands of people streaming into the ground on match day to support their favourite team, a failure to these systems would be disastrous", explains Brenden, "The system we have in place will automatically recover a corrupted database or even virtualises the entire system in the event of a failure." TPN and the football club have run numerous failover tests and the A-Server BDR appliance successfully recovers the system into a virtual server in less than 30 minutes with minimal user intervention. A-Server provides to channel partners a complete white label appliance and managed service aimed at helping small and medium sized businesses protect valuable data and servers. The A-Server Backup Data Recovery (BDR) appliance uses Instant Virtualisation Technologyto recover data faster than traditional drive rebuilds.
