6 hurt in Istanbul bomb explosion: report+

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)CAIRO, Feb. 13_(Kyodo) _ Six people were injured Monday by an explosion at a supermarket in Istanbul, Reuters news service reported, quoting Turkish television.

The blast, caused by a bomb, is the second in Istanbul in four days, the Turkish TV report said.

Governor Muammer Guler, quoted by the state Anatolian news agency, said one of the six was seriously wounded. Police had said earlier that the blast had killed at least one person but the governor, visiting the scene, made no mention of any deaths, the report said.

Asked if he thought the blast was a terrorist attack, Guler was quoted as saying: "Everything is possible."

Last Thursday, a bomb exploded at an Internet cafe in Istanbul, killing one person and injuring 16, an attack claimed by a militant Kurdish group.
