4G Identity Solutions awarded contract by Indian state

(Corporate IT Update Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Identity Management solutions developer 4G Identity Solutions Pvt Ltd (4G ID) has announced it has been awarded a contract for iris recognition identity management application and data de-duplication processing by the state government of Andhra Pradesh, India.

The value of the base contract is estimated to be in excess of USD6m.

According to the company, the contract calls for the consolidation and de-duplication of existing database of 82m citizen demographic details with iris codes of 56m citizens. The people were enrolled in separate regional databases over the last four years. Due to the limitations of the original enrolment application, the databases could not be consolidated or checked for fraud resulting from duplicate enrolments.

The company will be responsible for performing over 6.26 quadrillion iris matches in search of duplicate enrolments. In addition, 4G ID will be employing demographic matching software to search for duplicate enrolments in records where no irises were enrolled.

The company is also tasked with creating a web-based online enrolment application to support a Citizen ID Program capable of serving every citizen of Andhra Pradesh (90m citizens). The application is to support enrolment, fraud screening and management reporting. It will also be capable of integration with applications from the Housing Department and the Rural Development Department.
