(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)NEW DELHI, April 7_(Kyodo) _ At least two people are dead and scores more are feared killed or injured after a bus with 70 or more people aboard skidded off a road into a river in the Doda district in India's Jammu and Kashmir State on Friday.

Press Trust of India quoted police as saying eight people had been rescued while at least two died, but the fate of the other 60 or more passengers remains unknown.

The bus went off the Kishtwar-Paddar Road in a remote area near Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir's winter capital, and plunged into the Chenab River.

Police and defense sources told PTI a helicopter has been rushed from Jammu to Kishtwar to help with the rescue operations.

Army personnel have also been sent to the accident site.
