Wenstrup sponsors 'Traveling Help Desk' in Scioto CountyJun 18, 2013 (Portsmouth Daily Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- U.S. Representative Brad Wenstrup's office will sponsor a Traveling Help Desk in the Scioto County Courthouse's Commissioner Conference Room on June 20 from 2:30 until 4 p.m. The Traveling Help Desk is a monthly invitation for constituents to meet one-on-one with a member of Wenstrup's staff to share opinions on legislative issues, or get assistance dealing with federal agencies like the VA or Social Security. Staff will visit each of the eight counties in Ohio's Second District on the third Thursday of every month to ensure constituents have personal access to congressional services closer to their hometowns. No appointments are necessary for the Traveling Help Desk. Dr. Brad Wenstrup unseated U.S. Congresswoman Jean Schmidt in last year's Republican primary and went on to defeat William Smith in the general election to take Ohio's Second District seat in the 113th U.S. Congress. Ohio's newly mapped Second Congressional District includes parts of Scioto, Hamilton, and Ross counties, and all of Clermont, Brown, Highland, Adams, and Pike. In 1998, Wenstrup joined the U.S. Army Reserve, accepting an officer's commission and serving in the Medical Service Corps. In 2005, he served a year of active duty in Iraq where he was Chief of Surgery with the 344th Combat Support Hospital. Wenstrup was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge for his service in Iraq, and today he continues his service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve. For the 113th Congress, Wenstrup was selected to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Veteran's Affairs. He and his wife Monica will continue to reside in Cincinnati. In addition to these monthly visits, constituents are always invited to call Wenstrup's office or utilize his website, www.Wenstrup.House.gov, to share their concerns. If you are unable to attend the Traveling Help Desk, but would like to request a meeting, please contact the Cincinnati office at 513-474-7777.
