British Design Specialist Gtech Launches the Groundbreaking AirRAM Vacuum in the United States
WARREN, N.J. --(Business Wire)--
Gtech, a leading British design company, has established a U.S.
subsidiary, Gtech USA, to introduce its AirRAM vacuum cleaner. The
AirRAM represents the most significant evolution in vacuum development
over the last 20 years, and brings myriad first-time technological and
design developments to the category. Greg McCormick, Senior Vice
President and General Manager for Gtech USA, will oversee all U.S.
operations related to AirRAM's entrance into the American floor care
market.

Gtech USA is also announcing Brookstone as the company's official launch
partner. The leading specialty retailer recently unveiled the AirRAM on Brookstone.com
with a retail price of $350. The vacuum will be available at Brookstone
retail locations nationwide beginning March 17th, 2013. "Brookstone was
chosen as a strategic partner in the launch of the AirRAM due to its
longstanding expertise and credibility in the technology sector," said
McCormick. "The company's deep dedication to the merchandise it carries
and the in-depth product knowledge of its team will allow the many new
and category-redefining facets of the AirRAM to be thoroughly
communicated to consumers."
"Our ability to demonstrate the AirRAM vacuum in stores every day is key
to consumers discovering this incredible new vacuum," said Steven
Schwartz, Vice President of Product Development and Merchandising for
Brookstone. "This is an area in which we have unmatched experience, and
having personally used the AirRAM in my own home, I am confident our
Associates will be successful in sharing this revolutionary approach to
vacuuming with our customers."
The new vacuum has no bag, no cylinder, no hoses, and no cord, and still
outperforms a number of cordless vacuum cleaners, as well as various
corded vacuum brands. "My big challenge as a vacuum designer was
generating enough suction to get the dirt through long tubes," said Nick
Grey, founder of Gtech and inventor of the AirRAM. "Instead, I designed
a vacuum that only moves th dirt two inches from the floor to the
collection tray, drastically reducing its energy usage without affecting
cleaning performance, and allowing dust, dirt and fluff to be compacted
into tidy bales that can simply be dropped into the trash." He also
noted that size can be deceptive. Since the AirRAM compresses the debris
into tidy bales, it maximizes the collection tray's capacity and
provides superior cleaning performance and power.
Gtech's AirRAM only uses 100 watts of electricity to fully charge its
Lithium Ion battery, powering the vacuum for an average runtime of up to
40 minutes -- double that of numerous cordless vacuums. This means that
an average sized-US home can be cleaned on a single battery charge. And,
because of Gtech's Fully Utilized Efficient Lithium (F.U.E.L) system and
professional grade Lithium-ion technology, consumers are ensured
consistent performance until the moment the fuel cell is fully depleted.
Additionally, the AirRAM's lightweight, ergonomic design, coupled with
its cordless feature, means that consumers can easily transport the 7.7
lb. unit anywhere in the home, efficiently cleaning carpeted and
hard-surface floors alike. The vacuum's Forward Inertia Drive and 28
degree steering also allow for easy maneuverability when cleaning steps
and vacuuming tight spaces, such as under couches and coffee tables.
Lastly, the AirRAM is smart. It utilizes a unique Data Bridge that
allows consumers to communicate with the vacuum's onboard computer via
USB (the USB cord will be sold separately for $9.99). By doing so,
consumers can calculate the electricity they have saved, check the
condition of the F.U.E.L system and even see how many calories were
burned while vacuuming. With an Internet connection, consumers can also
find cleaning and user information, and leave feedback about their
AirRAM experience.
About Gtech:
Gtech is an independent British design company located on a farm in
rural Worcestershire. The company was founded by Nick Grey, who had
previously worked as the Head of Product Development at VAX, a British
vacuum manufacturer. He left the company in 2001 and, initially working
from his Worcestershire home, developed the world's first cordless
sweeper. In the relatively short time period since then, Gtech has
become a formidable force in high-performance cordless floor care and
garden products. During this time, Grey and his team of experts have
been pushing the boundaries of innovation in cordless floor care and
garden products, making Gtech the successful company it is today. Having
sold 22 million products in 19 countries worldwide, Gtech has carved out
and championed a new cordless sweeper sector. The creation of Gtech USA
