Damballa Deepens Partnership with Nominum to Bring Secured DNS Services to ISPs and Telcos
SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--
Damballa,
the leading provider of advanced
threat protection solutions for identifying criminal actors in
enterprise networks and malware-infected subscribers in carrier
networks, today announced a strategic partnership with Nominum,
the leading provider of customer experience, network and security
solutions for network operators. The partnership is designed to deliver
a tightly integrated version of the companies' security offerings to
help network operators provide more secure Internet services.
The Damballa
CSP (communications service provider) solution has been adopted by
some of the largest network operators for automating the identification
of infected subscribers. By monitoring DNS activity, and without
requiring deep packet inspection, Damballa CSP is an attractive solution
for carriers looking to provide a more secure Internet experience to
their subscribers.
"Nominum (News - Alert) and Damballa share a common goal - providing a technology that
makes the Internet safer for its users," said Brian McElroy, vice
president of business development at Nominum. "We are excited to expand
our partnership to enable carriers of any size to rapidly deploy a
superior DNS-based integrated security solutionthat detects malware
activity on their networks, terminates the activity, and alerts
subscribers of the risk."
On September 25, 2012, Nominum announced the Nominum
IDEAL ecosystem. Certified application providers can integrate their
software into the Nominum N2 Platform to help network operators gain
insights from the 1 trillion plus DNS queries processed daily by Nominum
software and take action in the network based on those insights.
Examples of such actions might include subscriber messaging, network
traffic management and blocking botnets and outbound spam.
"Nominum has an impressive track record and superior reputation for
providing highly scalable and reliable DNS infrastructure for network
operators around the world," said Jennifer Byrne, vice president of
global alliances at Damballa. "This truly is one of those
'hand-in-glove' technology partnerships where the Nominum N2 platform
provides ready-made visibility into the carriers' DNS traffic, allowing
the Damballa CSP (News - Alert) solution to 'snap in' with minimal-to-no additional
hardware requirements. Damballa then can automatically detect infected
subscribers, and Nominum can block all subscribers from the malicious
destinations, providing a holistic and highly scalable secured DNS
service."
"We are excited to join forces with Nominum in the fight to protect
consumers and businesses from botnets and advanced malware threats,"
said Stephen Newman, vice president product management at Damballa. "As
part of the IDEAL ecosystem and the integration with Nominum's
mitigation technology, Damballa CSP is able to not only detect threats
that pose risk to ISP and telco subscribers, but now can also mitigate
these threats and assist to remediate the infected users using a single
unified platform."
