Video Games Intelligence: Marko Hein on the Arrival of "Seamless" Cloud Gaming

LONDON, UK, Jan 15, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- However, much cloud gaming technology remains "early;" bandwidth is still invariably insufficient; and the games themselves are often not designed with the cloud in mind.

Ahead of his speaking-date, at Cloud Gaming Europe February 21-22, Marko Hein, Vice President Games, Deutsche Telekom, gave us his perspective representing a large telecom provider.

Hein says: "People have thought for the last 15-20 years that you can achieve this thing called "seamless gaming." For the first time, I really see it coming." But how long will cloud gaming take to become a reality A difficult question, Hein says.

"There are so many variables... it may be different from country to country, depending on bandwidth, and fiber, and other constraints...We also don't know how fast the technology will go." Cloud gaming is at a very early stage. The whole thing needs time, no matter what, Hein adds.

"Our technology partners need to build up experience, and we need to do more testing and find a business model that works." What's more, big publishers are still somewhat hesitant when it comes to the cloud because their main interest is that people enjoy their games in the best possible way. Publishers are also unsure about how the business model works, Hein says.

"It will take time until its stable. It might be a long time before they can really see big business in it." The full interview with Marko Hein, Vice President Games, Deutsche Telekom is available in a brand new Cloud Gaming whitepaper produced by Video Games Intelligence.

Cloud Gaming Europe (February 21-22) brings together many of the industry's most important players; including SEGA, Square Enix, Eidos and G-Cluster to name a few; to discuss how to build profitable cloud gaming strategies and effective partnerships.
