Qualcomm Labs and FanVision Sign Agreement

Jan 11, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Qualcomm Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Labs, Inc., and FanVision Entertainment, a media, entertainment and technology company, have signed a marketing and technical cooperation agreement.

According to a release, under this multi-year agreement, Qualcomm Labs will promote FanVision's in-venue broadcast service in conjunction with Qualcomm Labs' LTE Broadcast middleware software.

The two organizations will focus on expanding the availability of FanVision's live in-venue content delivery platform by leveraging the benefits of LTE Broadcast networks using Qualcomm Labs' LTE Broadcast middleware software.


FanVision will offer its in-venue broadcast service on, as well as license its patents in connection with, terminals using Qualcomm Labs' LTE Broadcast Middleware.

"We are pleased to be working with Qualcomm Labs. Its industry leading LTE Broadcast middleware will help bring to life the rich new experiences observed in our portfolio of patents; while the technology represents a powerful change in enabling our business model," said Tasso Koken, president and chief executive officer, FanVision. "Offering FanVision service over LTE Broadcast networks will expand our services and related consumer experience leveraging the benefits of these advanced network capabilities. This agreement with Qualcomm Labs builds on our successful activities in the US and Europe with major sports entities for delivering rich content to mobile devices in venues." LTE Broadcast is a scalable solution for delivery of high-bandwidth, high-demand live content.

FanVision is a provider of on-site fan experience enhancement and has the capability of broadcasting live audio, video and data content at sporting and other live events over multiple broadcast platforms.
