Tele2 selects NEC to expand and upgrade mobile access network across Europe

Dec 31, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- NEC Corporation, a provider of internet, broadband network and enterprise business solutions, has announced that NEC Europe Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary, has signed a multi-year global framework contract with Tele2 Sverige AB, a provider of mobile services, giving the possibility to expand and upgrade Tele2's mobile access network in 10 countries across Europe.

Starting in Russia, NEC will provide its iPASOLINK series of microwave radio solutions. NEC will also provide a range of professional services, such as training and maintenance support services.

The high capacity of NEC's iPASOLINK makes it a fit for future backhaul demands. It allows operators to roll out LTE service cost-effectively while maximizing network performance and Quality of Service (QoS) at the same time.

"We see more and more mobile operators renewing their mobile backhaul to stay ahead of the continued increase in mobile traffic globally," said Fredrik Tumegard, VP, NEC Europe. "NEC's global leadership in microwave transport technology, manifested in its iPASOLINK series, allows Tele2 to provide the best possible network coverage to their customers in Europe and Russia." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
